Kim Kardashian Reveals She Paid for Kris Humphries Engagement Ring—and Had to Give It Back in Divorce

Kim Kardashian is no longer keeping up with her engagement ring from ex-husband Kris Humphries.

The reality star recently opened up about her short-lived marriage to the former NBA player, alleging that she was forced to give up her 18-carat emerald-cut diamond ring as part of their 2013 divorce settlement.

During the March 13 episode of The Kardashians, Kim recalled how she was still legally married to Kris—despite splitting from him in October 2011 after just 72 days—when she became pregnant with her first daughter, North West, with then-husband Kanye West.

“I didn’t keep that,” Kim revealed. “In order to divorce him, he said I had to give him the ring.”

Kim, 44, went on to claim that she was the one who paid for the ring, while Kris only covered a fifth of its total cost.

Although renowned jeweler Lorraine Schwartz, who designed the ring, reassured Kim that she had made the “best decision” at the time, the SKIMS founder admitted she still harbored some frustration over the ordeal.

“I would’ve loved a collection,” Kim said.

What Happened to Kim Kardashian’s Engagement Ring?

Following their divorce settlement, Kris Humphries put the ring up for auction in 2013, selling it for $749,000.

His representative confirmed to E! News that the ring was his legal property, acquired through the divorce agreement.

“The ring is indeed Kris’ property that he received through his marriage dissolution,” his rep stated, adding that the former Boston Celtics player was “very pleased with the final result” of the auction.

Despite parting ways with the ring from Kris, Kim has owned several other high-value engagement rings over the years.

Her first engagement ring, from ex-husband Damon Thomas, originally belonged to her mother, Kris Jenner.

“My first one that I got engaged with Kanye was a cushion-cut,” Kim shared, recalling the sentimental value behind the piece.

However, Kim lost another engagement ring from Kanye—a 20-carat emerald-cut diamond—during the 2016 Paris robbery, where she was held at gunpoint in a luxury hotel.

“That one I’m gonna give to Northie because she was with me when I got engaged,” Kim said, emphasizing its emotional significance.
