Saquon Barkley didn’t like hearing fans boo Taylor Swift at the Super Bowl

Philadelphia Eagles fans are known for their passionate and sometimes rowdy support, and they brought that energy to Super Bowl LIX. However, Eagles running back Saquon Barkley was disappointed by one particular moment during the game—the crowd’s reaction to Taylor Swift.

Eagles Fans Boo Taylor Swift at Super Bowl LIX

Swift, who was in attendance to cheer on her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, appeared on the stadium’s jumbotron during the game. When her image flashed across the screen, a chorus of boos erupted from the Philly crowd, a reaction that Barkley found unnecessary and unfair.

“I remember that they showed her on the jumbotron and she got booed,” Barkley shared during an interview with Howard Stern. “I don’t get it. I don’t get why she was getting hate there.”

Barkley Praises Taylor Swift’s Influence on the NFL

Barkley went on to defend Swift’s presence in the football world, arguing that her massive popularity has helped the NFL attract new fans—particularly Swifties who may not have previously followed the sport.

“She’s there supporting her significant other, and she’s made the game bigger,” Barkley said. “We’re always talking about how we can expand football globally—we’re playing games in Brazil, Mexico, and soon, possibly Australia—and having someone like Taylor Swift involved is only helping that. So I don’t understand the backlash she’s getting.”

Swift’s involvement with Kelce and her appearances at Chiefs games throughout the season have generated significant media coverage, boosting NFL viewership and engagement. Reports have even suggested that her presence has led to an increase in jersey sales, social media interactions, and a broader audience for the league.

Barkley’s Love for Philadelphia Fans

Despite his disappointment in the crowd’s treatment of Swift, Barkley made it clear that he has nothing but love and appreciation for Eagles fans.

“They just shower you with love,” Barkley said, reflecting on his time in Philadelphia after leaving the New York Giants. “It’s been pretty cool for me and my family. The way the fans have taken me in, welcomed my family, and even embraced my daughter—it’s been an incredible experience.”

Barkley acknowledged that his departure from New York was complicated, but he has been grateful for the support and enthusiasm of Philadelphia fans since joining the Eagles.

Taylor Swift’s Impact on the NFL Continues

As Swift’s presence in the football world remains a hot topic, Barkley’s comments highlight the ongoing debate about her role in the sport. While some fans see her as a distraction, others—like Barkley—recognize the massive positive impact she has on the game’s growth and popularity.

With the NFL continuing to expand globally, having a superstar like Taylor Swift linked to the league only amplifies its reach. And as long as she remains involved, discussions about her influence—and reactions from diehard football fans—are unlikely to fade anytime soon.
